Where it all started

We have breath and energy to spare to supply and move the world efficiently and safely. We were founded in 1884, in Japan, driven by the challenge of generating added-value to international marine transportation everywhere we navigate. Through ocean shipping, we contribute to the development of global industries and to more prosperous communities. This is intricately connected to our corporate social responsibility.

Our operations in Brazil date back to 1916, from the launch of the regular lines between Japan and East Coast South America by the then-named Osaka Shosen (current Mitsui O.S.K. Lines).

We are proud we brought more than 180 thousand Japanese immigrants to Brazil: even the first group, according to records of the time.

Safety

Safety Operation Supporting Center
Overseen by MOL’s experienced captains, the center monitors the status of vessels around the clock, so that they respond appropriately to the various risks involved in the operation, including external factors such as weather and ocean conditions.
MOL Training Centers
We operate crew training centers in the Philippines, India, and other locations around the world to help us train and develop highly qualified crew members, indispensable to keep the safe operation of our vessels.
Virtual Reality (VR)
We are developing a system that uses virtual reality technology to train associates, simulating with a new level of realism risky (or hard-to-replicate) real-world scenarios.

Impact on people’s lives

It is through our vessels and routes the products necessary to the everyday life of the population are transported. As well as a better part of the energy that moves people’s lives.

We are mindful. There are studies that indicate that approximately 60% of all new orders for ships until 2025 are for vessels that use liquified natural gas (LNG) as fuel. A part of that environment-friendly energy source is already transported on our ships.
